Embedding Harmony Improvisator VST

First, you have to move the Improvisator.dll file to your VST directory, which in many cases is: C:\programs\Steinberg\VstPlugins


Cubase Studio 4, SX3:

- Open Cubase.

- Click on the “Devices” menu.
- Click on “Vst Instruments”.
- Add Improvisator.
- Add an Instrument.

- Create a MIDI track.
- In the “Input” dropdown for this track select “Improvisator”.
- In the “Output” dropdown for this track select your Instrument.
- In the “Monitoring” section for this track enable monitoring (The little speaker symbol lights up).

- Create a second MIDI track.
- In the “Output” dropdown for this track select “Improvisator”.
- In the “Monitoring” section for this track enable monitoring (The little speaker symbol lights up).

- Click on the second midi track and bring up the Improvisator VST interface.
- Now you hear chords when clicking them.



Live 7:

- Open Live.

- Click on the “Insert” menu.
- Click on “Insert Midi Track”.
- Drag Improvisator from the “Plugin-Devices” window to this midi track.

- Click on the “Insert” menu.
- Click on “Insert Midi Track”.
- Drag one of your sampler/synth instruments to use as a sound source from the Plugin-Devices window to this new midi track.
- In the “Input Type” dropdown for this track select “Improvisator”.
- In the “Input Channel” dropdown for this track select “Improvisator”.

- In the “Monitoring” section for this track select the “In” box (it will turn orange).

- Click on Improvisator midi track and bring up the Improvisator VST interface.
- Now you hear chords when clicking them.



Fruity Loops Studio 7:

- Open FL Studio.

- Click on the “Channels” menu.
- Click on “Add One”.
- Select Improvisator.
- In the pattern window – click on Improvisator.
- The Improvisator should show up in a Fruity wrapper window.
- Click on the “Extra Options” button in the left-hand corner of the Fruity wrapper (left of the folder button).
- Select “Show Midi output port”.
- In the right hand corner of the fruity wrapper select the Midi output port (PORT) you want to send on (example PORT = 001).

- Click on the “Channels” menu.
- Click on “Add One”.
- Select one of your sampler/synth instruments to use as a sound source.
- In the pattern window – click on your chosen sampler/synth.
- The sampler/synth instrument should show up in a Fruity wrapper window.
- Click on the “Extra Options” button in the left-hand corner of the Fruity wrapper (left of the folder button).
- Select “Show Midi input port”.
- In the right hand corner of the fruity wrapper select the Midi input port (PORT) you want to receive on (example PORT = 001).

- In the pattern window – click on Improvisator (the Improvisator should pop up in the Fruity Wrapper window).
- Now you hear chords when clicking them.



Sonar:

- Create two tracks
- Track 1 should be set to your keyboard midi input. The output should be set to Improvisator.
- On track two the input should be set to improvisator and the output set to what ever sound source you wish to use.
- The important thing to remember is to have the echo input monitor button set to on on both tracks.
